Do you have a question about our Washington, DC and Maryland Pet Care Services? Here are some of the most common questions we’re asked by our clients. If your question is not answered below, feel free to give us a call at 202-843-8393 or shoot us a message. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible!

  • We offer dog walks and pet sitting visits. You can request personalized services to accommodate your pets’ needs. We can administer medications and provide specialized care for special needs pets. Learn more about our services.

  • Our staff of pet sitters and dog walkers are local to Washington, DC and some parts of Maryland. Please call (202) 735 1571 or contact us to find out if you are within our Maryland service area.

  • Before we can initiate pet care services, we will need to have an in-person “Get Acquainted Visit”. This consultation costs $15 and takes 20 to 60 minutes. It’s best to schedule a consultation at least five days before you will need us to begin dog walking or pet sitting.

    During the get acquainted visit, we will go over our policies with you, answer any questions, and find out if our services are a good match for you and your pets.

    You’ll also need to provide us with access to your home. Most clients provide us two sets of keys. 

  • Payments are accepted before services are rendered. You can pay online by credit or debit, Paypal, or with cash or check. For ongoing dog walking services, we accept payments by Tuesday of each week.

  • Before services begin, you will complete an online veterinary informational sheet for each of your pets. 

    Our pet sitters are trained to recognize signs of a medical issue, and understand that time is of the essence. 

    We will call your veterinarian first. If needed, we will transport your pet to their veterinarian’s office or to the nearest emergency vet. You will be notified promptly of any incidents. 

    You will be responsible for costs incurred from veterinary or ER visits, and you may also be charged by Huff and Puff Petcare for extra time spent on transport and care. 

  • Absolutely, we provide daily updates with photos via email or text.

  • Our pet sitting and dog walking services are available all year long. To reward our hard-working pet sitters for working during the holidays, we do charge holiday fees.

    We charge a $10 holiday fee on: Easter, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Father’s Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.

    We charge a $15 major holiday fee on: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.

  • First we will get in touch with you to find out if you have additional food stored somewhere in your home. If needed, we are happy to make a trip to purchase food for a $25 trip charge in addition to the cost of the food. 

  • We are not able to provide refunds if you depart later or return earlier than expected, as your time slot is reserved when you schedule services, and we may have had to turn away other clients to make time to visit your pets. 

    Daily dog walks are an ongoing service and is paid for on Tuesday after services are rendered. If you call to cancel by 8AM on the morning of the scheduled walk, you will not be charged for the day’s visit. 

    Pet sitting visits can be cancelled and refunded 7 days in advance. Services NOT cancelled within 7 days will be charged 50%, and within 3 days, 100%.

    Holiday pet care services are always in high demand, and we sometimes have to turn some clients away. As a result, we have a stricter cancellation policy during the holidays. An AUTOMATIC 25% cancellation fee applies to ALL services booked on and around major holidays. 

     

     

     

     

     

  • No, for the safety and comfort of your pets, we only walk dogs together if they are from the same household. We will walk no more than four dogs at once.

  • Yes, we feel that pets are happiest when they consistently receive care from a familiar face. You will get a designated pet sitter or dog walker, with a backup in case your usual sitter is not available. 

  • We will be glad to mail your keys “Certified Mail” upon your request if you have kept your keys on file with us. The fee will be $10. If you need them to be dropped off, we can arrange that as well. There will be a trip charge of $12 for this service.
